Last Night’s Northern Lights

The Aurora Borealis lit up for a couple of hours last night so Jack and I were out until 5 AM watching the ribbons stripe the night sky. There were few clouds and it turned out to be a very enjoyable performance.
A few images from the same night can be seen at this post.

My 7 yr old son was just watching the How to train your dragon movie, there is a part where the main dragon, Toothless, flies above the clouds and you can see the norhern lights. My son would not believe it was real until I showed him your fantastic photos. He was totally amazed. Thank you for sharing these wonderful images and enlightening my son to one of the true wonders of this beautiful planet.

About 20 minutes west of Calgary. Along Jumping Pound Road north of Highway 1. I hope you find them – you can subscribe for Aurora alerts at http://www.aurorawatch.ca to get an email when the Lights are active.
