Nice to see loons in Canada! I have been photographing loons in Finland and published couple of posts lately of Red-throated Loons. So beautiful birds. I noticed that you are also photographing with 5D. I am still using 5DII, but quite happy with it 🙂 Thank you for sharing your nice photos with us !

Ok, Christopher, what are your settings for this?

Hi Jane,
The settings for this were: 1/1000th of a second; aperture was f/4; on an ISO-equivalent of 800.
I was shooting with a full frame dSLR (Canon 5DIII) with a 500mm f/4 telephoto lens. This combination of a really long lens, full frame sensor and f/4 (wide open) made for very shallow depth of field. The trees ringing the lake provided a beautiful reflection on the water.
