A chaotic sunrise in Banff National Park

Before the sun rose over the Fairholme Range, the scattered clouds stacked up in layers over the mountains.  They fought to catch the early splashes of pink and peach as the day approached.  The chaos of these splashes of color across the broken sky were beautiful to watch.

  7. That is absolutely stunning. Where is this located exactly?

    • Hi Matthew,

This location is in the Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. If you know the area, the Vermilion Lakes are a chain of three lakes a couple of kilometres west of the town of Banff. There is a small paved road that connects the three lakes and each offer great views and decent chances at seeing wildlife (mostly herons, loons and the occasional eagle but sometimes moose, elk and bears too).

      Cheers,

      Chris

      • It truly is! And the accessibility allows people of all ages and levels of mobility to enjoy it. Since having kids, I have come to appreciate both of those much more at certain times.
