Blood Moon Steampunk

Eclipses fascinate me and this morning’s lunar eclipse was outstanding. It was overcast for much of the night so I wasn’t sure how visible the Moon would be as it reached totality. While it was in the Earth’s umbra, the clouds started to clear and I was able to watch the latter part of the performance. This image was taken when a cloud passed along the top edge of the Moon while the moon was coming out of the penumbra and the sun was lighting the upper hemisphere.

Finsternisse faszinieren mich, und die Mondfinsternis von heute früh war herausragend. Es war den Großteil der Nacht bewölkt gewesen, daher war ich nicht sicher, wie sichtbar der Mond sein würde, wenn die totale Mondfinsternis erreicht wäre. Während er sich im Erdschatten befand, verzogen sich die Wolken, und ich konnte den letzteren Teil der Vorstellung beobachten. Dieses Bild wurde aufgenommen, als eine Wolke vor dem oberen Rand des Mondes entlangzog, während der Mond aus dem Halbschatten trat und die Sonne die obere Halbkugel erleuchtete.

Great photo of the blood moon. I got up early to photograph but it did not have the red color that your photo has.
