Joe’s command over a lasso
Joe Bews is a cowboy I was fortunate to photograph last weekend at one of his family’s stations near Longview. When I asked Joe if he would mind doing a bit of rope work, he kindly obliged and I had the opportunity to try a few different approaches while he roped some imaginary targets lurking in the tall grass. His skills certainly didn’t need the practice so it was really great of Joe to throw for me and a couple other photographers on a pretty warm afternoon.

Nice photos of Joey
During my trip to Canada in 2001, I was one of the lucky ones that got to live and work with the Bews in Longview, right on the foot hills of the Rockies.
An amazing experience I sheared with Joey and Margaret on Y over L ranch.
I’m now a builder a Kiwi living and building in Australia

Hi Dustin,
Thanks for commenting. You are indeed a lucky fellow to have spent time with the Bews family. Very good people – I feel lucky just to have chatted with them for a few hours out on their land, in their home setting.
A Kiwi in Oz – I hope they aren’t giving you too much grief over there. I lived in Bourke, NSW and then in Nelson Bay, NSW for a year after high school. Good people out that way too!
Cheers,
Chris
