Autumn is coming to a close soon

The white branches are starting to poke out as the leaves are falling to the ground.

Around Bragg Creek and on the prairies towards Calgary, there are still some nice autumn scenes but they are starting to go fast.

Beautiful. I love autumn, but it’s always a little sad (for me, anyway) when the season gives way to winter… bare trees for months on end.

    • Hi Val,

Autumn stretched out pretty nicely this year around southern Alberta. Last year it came to a hard stop with a two foot snowfall in mid-October that didn’t leave until spring. That caused the trees a great deal of stress but this fall has allowed them to prepare for the winter so I’m told by my mother, who knows much about these things, that all should be well when the cold and the snow come.

I was on the eastern side of the province this past weekend and got to enjoy fall again as the area around the Alberta – Saskatchewan border is a couple weeks behind my part of the world in western Alberta. The autumn leaves are still up in the trees and harvesting is still in full swing there. I will post with some of these second fall images this week.

      Cheers,

      Chris

  2. Wow, I can’t believe autumn is almost gone from Calgary. It has yet to hit AZ. You have some lovely photos, I found your blog through Val Erde’s blog.

    • Hello Candace,

Amazing the differences we have across the land.

Arizona is one of the places on my list to photograph – in any season! And, I’d love to catch a Cardinals game too.
